What is Fascia?
Fascia is fascinating! Covering and supporting every structure and organ, even down to the cell, fascia (sometimes called connective tissue) is truly what holds your body together. Fascia is in layers and is made to glide back and forth as we move. Injury, surgery, gravity over time, and chronic conditions cause adhesions, making fascia less flexible, thickened, and restrictive. Often what we think is joint or muscle pain is actually pain in our fascia. It’s been discovered that fascia surrounds our nerves and has a communication system, and both of these functions are impaired when fascia is “sticky”. Block Therapy is truly a whole body approach that impacts overall health, pain, and mobility as we restore function and open the body to healing and fluidity.

FAQs
What's the point of fascia decompression?
When fascia has blockages or adhesions, it affects every aspect of our bodies. Without proper flow and alignment we begin to feel aches and pains and age in ways that are filled with dis-ease. In fact, conditions associated with pain (lipedema, hypermobility, fibromyalgia, migraine, Ehlers-Danlos) can be helped significantly through fascia work. By restoring the fascia, step by step, we can decrease pain and regain function and quality of life.
I have a painful health condition, will this work for me?
I understand! One of the beautiful, and practical, things about this practice is that you are always in control of where the pressure is and how much pressure is applied. There are modifications available for every situation, so Block Therapy can work for you, no matter where you are in your health journey. Even if pain is limiting your activity and mobility, together we can address your health concerns. You can start right where you are and begin to decrease pain safely and effectively. Because I've been in your place, I offer services that encourage, guide, teach, and help you build confidence as you work toward a new level of healing.
What's your approach to nutrition?
For years I ate "healthy", but I still ended up with limited mobility and debilitating pain. By customizing a plan with you, instead of dictating "my" plan to every client, you are able to eat foods you love and create a nutrition plan that works for your body, your budget, and your lifestyle. With a focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods that support healing and health, there are no extreme calorie restrictions or feelings of failure. Together, we create a positive relationship with food while decreasing inflammation in the body and giving your body what it needs to function optimally.
How is Block Therapy Different?
Block Therapy uses nudges and persuasion to make changes to the fascia. It is a self-guided melting and releasing of the adhesions in the fascia through the use of your own bodyweight, gravity, and proper diaphragmatic breath. Due to the slow, calm nature of Block Therapy, it is a bodywork practice that is meditative and relaxing while powerful and effective at making changes to your body at the structural level.
Is Block Therapy something I can do myself in my own home?
One of the most appealing aspects of Block Therapy for me is the ability to learn how to address fascia health and do it at my convenience in my own home. The cost and time of professional services is often prohibitive. When living with a chronic condition there are also additional challenges: pain, communicating exactly where your body needs attention, exhaustion, and possibly being overwhelmed, frustrated, embarrassed, and not mentally prepared to face another appointment. Block Therapy gets you in tune with your own body so you can address your unique challenges in the place you feel most comfortable!
What do faith and mindset have to do with health?
Mental and spirtual health impacts physical health. Regaining a positive outlook and remembering your worth and God's plan for you literally changes your biochemistry as you work on your physical body. In addition, traumas from our past are strored in the fascia and as we release the physical adhesions, we're also releasing the impact of those traumas. By changing our thought patterns and applying Biblical truths and wisdom to our journey, there is healing of mind, body, and spirit.
A hunk of wood?
Yes! Block Therapy's only tools are your hands, a comfy place to be, and a wooden block or two. Fascia grips to bone and the density of wood matches the bone density, allowing us to get to the root of adhesions, something other materials like foam or plastic cannot do. The specially-designed shape allows for deep, yet gentle, pressure to release and melt fascial adhesions. Rather than someone else putting their weight and force into your fascia, the Block is a tool that you can use yourself, so you're 100% in control!
Is this expensive?
Compared to other forms of therapy, Block Therapy is a very small investment! In fact, to get started all that's required is a towel and a Sampler Program for less than $10. Many people with painful conditions find this is all they need for several months as they begin to make profound, initial changes. When you're ready, you can purchase one or two blocks and a Starter Program for deeper work. Finally, access to hundreds of videos and specific protocols are available through a Block Therapy membership that costs around $1 per day. If you need specific modifications, guidance, professional support as you get started, help figuring out your best nutrition plan, or a wholistic reset for body/mind/soul, I'm here to help!
