Healing From the Inside Out

What does that mean? I've said before that various therapies I've tried for my awesome combo of chronic conditions ended up being a Band-aid instead of true healing. I stand by that. Until I found Block Therapy things would work for awhile and then I'd hit a wall. There would be slight improvement and then I'd go backwards or be unable to progress. Lipedema, lymphedema, hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos, migraines, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, celiac...the list was complicated and the symptoms are complex. There is no protocol and what is recommended for one of these conditions is forbidden for another.

When I began studying fascia, I knew it was going to somehow be part of my answer, but I didn't know how much I'd learn and grow and change and heal. With block therapy and its whole body approach (because fascia is literally everywhere in the body!) I found that changes were happening in unexpected ways. Today I'm giving a short list of inside-out healing examples. My nutrition has always been whole foods, nutrient dense. I haven't really changed that because I'm ultra-committed to maintaining the best nutrition for my body, including the right supplements, avoiding foods that cause me inflammation, and hydration + electrolytes.

  1. Resting heart rate. For a decade my resting heart rate was always in the high 90s, sometimes over 100. Since block therapy, it's consistently in the mid 70s.

  2. Blood pressure. My blood pressure was consistently too high, both the top and bottom numbers. Now it's in a healthy range.

  3. Breath. I don't remember being able to take a full breath and one that wasn't a hitched breath in my adult life. I can take full, relaxed breaths now that come from the belly.

  4. Subluxations. These partial dislocations used to happen daily. A knee out of place, spine clicking back and forth with each breath, one hip higher than the other that caused pain when walking. I rarely have subluxations anymore.

  5. Vision. My vision has improved so that I rarely need reading glasses and don't depend as much on the ones I was prescribed for night vision.

  6. Morning pain. Every single morning I used to gently, slowly creep out of bed and then stand there trying to settle into the pain so I could walk. I don't remember the last time I thought about whether or not getting out of bed would hurt.

  7. Cold tissue. My arms, legs, bum (lipedema areas) were once very cold to the touch even if I was hot. Now they are normal temperature.

  8. Sweating. For years I didn't sweat. I live in Texas and didn't sweat even in 100+ degree summers. I can say that's not an issue anymore!

  9. Floating. One of the oddities of lipedema is legs/butt that float while in water. I no longer have this weird symptom and can walk in deep water without struggle. My legs also don't feel like they weigh 500 pounds when I go from pool to land again.

  10. Overall tenderness/pain. I used to have a constant ache and extreme pain with pressure. My pain is 95% gone and I have about that same amount of pain reduction with pressure.

  11. Migraines. I haven't had a migraine in over two years.

  12. Back spasms. For several years I had late-night back spasms regularly that were extremely painful and would last for hours. It's been over two years since I had one.

  13. Activity and recovery from activity. I've gone from doing nothing but basic survival, needing a day before and after any normal activity to stay in bed and recover, to regaining mobility and ability to do things like chores, outings, lifting, childcare, and other things most people take for granted without needing a prep or recovery day. I don't do as much as many people, and there are days when I need extra rest, but overall I'm doing more than I have in a decade.

  14. Thyroid. Many thyroid symptoms have improved including extreme fatigue that required daily naps, hair thinning, constantly feeling cold, enlarged tongue, muscle wasting, shoulder pain, face puffiness, very low body temperature.

  15. Lymphatics. There are so many changes with this important body system. I have armpits again, instead of puffiness, decreased swelling in the feet and hands, less feeling of heaviness in limbs, less bloated in the abdomen, better circulation, less brain fog.

It's clear that there have been significant changes in my body and how it functions since I started Block Therapy. This isn't a scientific study, so there are no comparison groups or peer reviews, but I have carefully tracked my own experience. I also tracked it with many therapies and supplements and dietary modifications over the last decade, so I have a good idea of what impact each of these have had. Why do I trust the process with Block Therapy? Because it changes and aligns and frees in a way that allows your body to do what it's striving to do...heal! Every BlockTherapy program is individualized. For me, the changes aren't coincidence. Consistent, intentional Block Therapy practice has made the difference. It's a journey and there is more of the journey to come. My body has been in turmoil for over 30 years so it will take more than two years to unwind a lot of it. This is not a magic wand, but a path I'm walking down to get to the best version of me and my health.
